Most forms of jazz requires you to be in certain frames of mind to enjoy them. I've got a couple friends with ADHD who couldn't get through even one Miles Davis album at gunpoint. For me anyway, Davis, early Hancock, Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders to a lesser degree are my favorite of the old guard: on other occasions I'd rather spin up The Rippingtons or Pat Metheny if I want that tropical jungle vibe.

Ramblings aside, this has always been a 10 for me in listenability. Not Davis's best album, but his playing is pretty flawless and his knack for atmosphere here is second to none.

All but one track recorded in one take also.

Magic.

I'm sure most of Frown's music was one take as well.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

Bitch, you thought.

Dear Miles Davis,

You suck. This album sucks. Consider yourself assailed.

1/10

Sincerely, Ori

I never listened to Miles Davis before. I heard he is the greatest. I've read that Kind of Blues is the greatest record in Jazz history. The more an artist or band get hyped, the more I expect from them. If I think they don't live up to the hype than I move on. Nothing about this album really stood out as exceptional. Nothing blew my mind where I had to play it over and over again. I compared this album to other stuff. I don't see it anywhere near as interesting as what I heard by other Jazz musicians.
