I agree. Mods change my vote to a one.

A few early reactions to things I've been shown in this thread:

Oriphiel suggested that I might dig Pylon and oh boy... homerun, baby!

I listened to a handful tracks at random and I loved three of them:

Pylon - Cool

Pylon - Gyrate

Pylon - Crazy

Frownland showed me the album Deceit, by This Heat. Frankly, the fact that this album is from 1981 is mind blowing to me. I'm sure Frownland didn't intend to make me respect The Fall even less, but the album this thread is about seems downright unimaginative when you consider that it's a handful years younger than Deceit is.
For that matter, hearing this album makes me realize how little is really new in certain avenues of modern rock and metal music.
I can't say that I love every moment on Deceit, but damn it if there isn't a lot for me to love here. So much variation and there's always something new waiting around the corner. The music feels full and fleshed out. The song A New Kind of Water is just... fantastic (it starts at the 31:13 mark - there's a track list with links in the album description).

Then there's that Siouxie and the Banshees album that Oriphiel suggested that I might like: Juju.

I haven't heard the whole album yet, and I'm not sure I'm blown away, but it certainly has a lot going for it so far. I'm going to need some more time with it, but I can say that the song Into the Light is pretty awesome.

I really like Pylon's Gyrate. They came from the same Athens, Georgia scene as the B-52s and REM. I think they all influenced each other. In fact, REM credits Pylon in particular as one of their influences (though they have a totally different sound, obviously).

Like someone else who posted here, I am also new to The Fall. I'm intrigued by their reputation and their song titles, but so far have been disappointed by what I hear.
I thought I liked a song by The Fall once but here it turned out to be by The Call. So I am back to being disappointed by them too.

Okay I guess I've somehow convinced you I'm an RHCP fan. Whatever, believe what you want to believe.

LOL. Yep, two totally different bands. One of the members of the Call looked like he was hooked on Geritol
