I'm thinking about getting "Busy, busy, busy." tattooed on me next, a Vonnegut reference (from Cat's Cradle) that resonates with me in its context, and isn't quite as overdone as "So it goes."

Hahaha, wow!

You are the only person I've actually seen with that one, though. I've actually met at least five people with "So it goes." tattooed on, and that's troubling.

I may just go back to my original literary reference from The Dark Tower and get "19" with...maybe a rose. I'm not too sure yet; I think tattoos of roses can be tacky sometimes, and I'm afraid I'll turn out to be one of those people allergic to red dye also.

I'm a sucker for literary tattoos. I think you could pull off a tattoo with a rose, just don't make it too thorny haha.

I'll keep that in mind. As far as literary tattoos, go, I wanted one based on a poem. Unfortunately, one of my favorite poems is "Daddy" by Sylvia Plath, which I read in junior high, and I don't want people to think I've got daddy issues. Even though that final stanza, every single time I read it, gives me chills.

For the record, I wouldn't actually consider getting a "Daddy" tattoo. If that was unclear.

Self reliance. I'd rather die with honor than live the life of a coward.

Seriously we should be friends. I've wanted a Sylvia Plath tattoo for years! Haha. I was thinking of getting a fig tree (from the Bell Jar) or tulips (from the poem), but haven't begun planning anything further than that. But yeah, that's tricky. Her work means a lot to me, but I can see how having a Plath tattoo would invite unwanted judgements. I am, however, almost completely settled on getting "I am" on my forearm. It comes from my favorite quote in the Bell Jar: "I took a deep breath and listened to the old bray of my heart: I am, I am, I am."
