Jargon aside, it was pretty faithful to the film-noir genre, especially in the score. Film noir from the '40's doesn't really have the slow saxophone playing people often associate with the genre, at least not in any of the ones I've seen. Definitely a good movie from the last decade that more people need to see.

Anyhow here's my latest catch.

Near Dark

1987 vampire western with a scene stealing performance from Bill Paxton. No pretty boy vampires in this one (well except the protagonist...), just a bunch of monsters out looking to survive by any means possible. Definitely a film you want to keep an eye on if you're into vampire flicks, but aren't interested in where the genre is now.

Thank you for this, the last vamp film that I saw that I was even interested in was 30 days of night and even though I have issues with the ending. I still like how animalistic and grizzly the vampires were in that movie.

I've only caught bits and pieces of this film until recently. I really liked it I thought it was good. Kind of expected more out of it though.

The ending was a little... anticlimactic wasn't it? Well if you want a few other vampire movie recommendations I'd say check out:

The Lost Boys: I'm sure you've already seen this, but if not it's pretty much the quintessential vampire movie of the '80's.

Cronos: Not exclusively a vampire film, but it was Guillermo del Toro's directorial debut and involves drinking blood and the struggle to stay human

Let The Right One In/ Let Me In: Let The Right One In is the Swedish equivalent of Twilight except it's less a focus on teenage heartthrobs and more a focus on the confusing and insecurities of 11-14 year old romance. Let Me In is the American remake which I haven't seen yet, but I've heard it's pretty good so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Fright Night: Pretty much what kick started the pairing of teenagers with vampires with elements of comedy, action, and horror.

From Dusk till Dawn: This is Robert Rodriguez (director) and Quentin Tarantino (screenplay writer/ actor) with George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, and Juliette Lewis in a western Vampire movie, so you already know it's gonna be good.

Bordello of Blood: I wouldn't say this is a good movie, but it has Dennis Miller, Corey Feldmen, a midget, and a pretty decent amount of nudity. It's a Tales from the Crypt keeper feature so it's not really intended to be taken seriously.

There's a lot of them out there, not all of them are great, but I think this list should be enough for right now.

Another great one from Hitchcock.

Good, but I did feel a little let down. I think I was expecting more, but it's still a damn good film.

I apologize because I'm sure all these films have already been done millions of times by people who actually watch movies when they come out rather than procrastinating and watching them when the hype is over.

The Social Network - which I loved. The chemistry between Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield was awesome, and even though Justin Timberlake had to go and **** it all up eventually since he couldn't just stick to bringing sexy back, I still really enjoyed it. AG is a babe.

Black Swan - utter ****. Thats all.

X-Men: First Class - wowowoowowow. I know its meant to be this dramatic superhero/mutant film with a great storyline, as well as incredibly well shot - and it was. But for me it was just this big romantic drama between Erik/Charles who were so obviously in love with eachother, featuring Moira the cockblock and Tony from Skins with an awful American accent. Oh, and January Jones who was thoroughly disapointing as Emma Frost, even though she is fabulous and all that. This film was sassy.

Fight Club - ****. Best movie ever.
