Existential comedies

This is one of my favourite movie genres. Something that can make you laugh at the bleakest absurdities of life. Any recommendations?

I don't know if you seen them already or they are what you are looking for.
  1. Joe Versus the Volcano (1990)
  2. What About Bob? (991)
  3. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (1990)
  4. Groundhog Day (1993)
  5. The Truman Show (1998)
  6. Being John Malkovich (1999)
  7. Drowning Mona (2000)
  8. Lost in Translation (2003)
  9. The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
  10. Stranger than Fiction (2006)

I've seen the bolded ones and I feel like I've seen Rosencratz but can't remember it. I should watch Eternal Sunshine again too because that's a pretty faded memory :)

Being John Malkovitch has long been a favourite. Great movie.

Have you seen Better off Dead and Heathers?

Pretty sure I've seen these although I don't remember much of Better Off Dead.

I also second Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead. I watched it pretty close to when I finished Hamlet and about died laughing. Made me appreciate both works a lot more as well.

Watching that right now actually. Reminds me a little of Bunuel.

Seen this one but it's on Netflix so think I'll watch it again.

Just finished this one. Enjoyed its meandering through the human condition. I realised I've seen the director's Songs From the Second Floor a while ago.
