I don't know about other people, but it's the drums and the guitar as why I love "Hot for Teacher". The lyrics are entertaining, but I'd still like the song just as much with different words.

Howard the Duck seems to have disappeared and as I can't remember all the albums he suggested I can't put them up

So if anybody else wants to send me some albums and a theme, I'll put them up as soon as possible.

Van Roth wipes the floor with Van Hagar! Next up is this one-off battle submitted by Hip Hop Bunny Hop and it's between two cult bands, one a quite forgotten proto-metal band called High Tide and the other, one of America's best kept cult metal acts Manilla Road. Personally I would have picked the Manilla Road debut Invasion as it matches the High Tide album better. Anyways, there is more than a decade difference between the two albums and both imo are great. I actually did a review of the High Tide album in my journal below

Alright so here we go.

I cannot STAND Manilla Road. I have absolutely no idea why they are so beloved among metal "historians" or those into the old school. I couldn't point out anything in particular to you for why I hate them so much (besides that awful singing voice), but there you have it. I've tried to like them, I really have, but I just can't do it.

On the other hand, High Tide is a cool, proggy, surprisingly heavy psychedelic band. There is really no contest here (for me at least).

High Tide - 1
Manilla Road - 0

Blaro... this is the first time I've heard a metalhead say they don't like Manilla Road.

High Tide are fun but repetitive. Really, really repetitive. Besides, "The Ram", "Necropolis", & "Feeling Free again"? Those three tracks dominate....

High Tide - 1
Manilla Road - 1

A lot of people are put off through Mark Shelton's voice, who follows in a line of vocalists that started with Burke Shelley of Budgie, vocalists who came across as low key and not typical of most metal vocalists. They're an acquired taste, personally I love them as they bring a different twist to the genre and Crystal Logic ranks as Manilla Road's most cohesive effort and I especially love the title track and it's a great album throughout. High Tide were the more amazing band of the two though and the repetitive criticism that HHBH laid at their door has a certain amount of validity, but they played a type of acid rock that merged the Doors with Iron Butterfly and then pumped up the volume to an earbusting level for 1969! The album was one of the most interesting for its time a I alway love hearing it.

High Tide- 2
Manilla Road- 1
