Bands With Great Vocal Harmonies

I can't really think of any of the top of my head without conjuring up either classic rock or Nu-metal/modern rock. Surely their must be more than a handful.

A lot of the folky indie acts of now have great harmony. Fleet Foxes, Animal Collective (not as folky but still in line), AIC had a cool harmony dynamic. I'm feeling limited too, and it is very much a staple of more classic oriented stuff. But like i said, indie music - especially psych folk/pop oriented - will contain really rich harmonies.

That's just about exactly what I came up with too. I love me some Fleet Foxes. I've been listening to Fossil Collective lately, very similar to Fleet Foxes, but a bit more pedestrian.

Is Damn Yankees already classic rock? That band had terrific harmonies.

Being a quasi-supergroup consisting of equal parts Styx, Night Ranger, Ted Nugent (or Amboy Dukes, if you wanna look at it that way), and Lynyrd Skynyrd, I'm pretty sure they were classic rock from the first note played, but they did have great vocal harmonies.

Funkadelic! They are classic but I wouldn't say classic rock, and their harmonies were pretty killer.

Yeah, they definitely put their funk spin on vocal harmonies and It sounded great.

I like the harmonies on Mastodon's Crack the Skye a lot, but they're really just subtle, simple two-part harmonies.

I always like to listen to Syd Barrett when I feel like singing. I can always catch a melody with Syd that I'll enjoy, especially since his songs are so vocally based that it allows the background melodies to rise up in favour of the song.
