When I was a child I ran along,
seeds spilling everywhere from my pockets,
little plants popping up everywhere,

I would go back to visit them,
from time to time,
see how they had bloomed,
scorched by the sun,
scorched by the sun,

I would be determined to plant more properly,
look after my seeds,
and water them daily,

this time will be different,
I see my plant starting to grow,
stems branching out,
flowers blooming in Autumn,
I believe they will grow,
I believe they will grow,

Sometimes I notice other's plants,
how beautiful indeed, how beautiful the seeds,
I place my plant near theirs,
to share and bathe in the sunlight together,
and soak up the rain together,

we will be together,
our colors complementing,
what the other plant lacks,
don't let the world see my black,

The other plant is beautiful,
then one day I see something arye,
vines of thistle are cropping up anew,
entangling themselves around my friend,
My friend, I say, we must go,

This isn't the place we had in mind,
let us pick up and move from here,
the other plant is unresponsive,
what has happened,
what has happened,

the plant picks up and leaves,
sickened by all the vines and weeds,
I will not grow to be like these others,
I will not become infested w/ disease,

I will hoard all the worlds water and light,
if it takes this much to survive,
oh, the friends who have been taken,
I will thrive,
I will thrive
