Default favourite soul artists of the noughties

I've heard it said that soul is a dying genre which I believe is a ridiculous statement, so I wanna see who people think have been the best of the genre in the ten years gone by, people like Joss Stone and Mary J Blige are some of mine, but what about you?

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings
Raphael Saadiq
Me'Shell Ndegeocello
Ryan Shaw
Solomon Burke (alas, gone now but did some of his greatest work in the last 10 years)
Ben Harper and Lenny Kravitz (both cross-over into Rock, but show a lot of soul in their ballads).

This particular single is the Lenny Kravitz I always liked, his 1989 debut single Let Love Rule. The video and music itself resonates a 60s early 70s vibe to it.

+1 to both Sharon Jones and Me'Shell Ndegeocello. I can really get down on their material, baby. Saw Sharon Jones live a few years back and man can that mama tear it up.

Make sure you check out the dvd Standing In The Shadows Of Motown, both of them feature.

Would you consider Missy Elliot soul or hip-hop?

I think Charles Bradley & Aaliyah also deserve a mention.
