What's more (and what's worse), a lot of the covers present on that blog gives you quite a thorough insight in a more or less uniquely swedish music pehomenom; "dansband", freely translated as "dance band" whose equivalent I don't believe is to be found anywhere else as a cultural phenomenom.

Musically it's basically sort of a cross between the worst strains of rockabilly-revival glamrock of the mid-70's type (preferably featuring saxophone) with an occasional tint of late 60's Vegasy schlock and it's designed exclusively for the elderly to dance to (and it's particularily popular out in the countryside and among retards, no kidding!) Imagine a small-town cultural phenomenom of a whole nation entirely built upon this...

...and you pretty much get the whole picture. As you can imagine (and tell from many of the covers), the musical scope is virtually zero and the aesthetics are firmly frozen in the mid-70's, and not the good kind of mid-70's, mind you. And even I get surprised each time I learn about the existence of yet another of these bands which often bear the name of the supposed band-leader, and even more surprised at how many of them are consisting of relatively young dudes (with an occasional singerine) considering that its archetypical setting resides among the middle-aged. You will find them by the hundreds on ferryboats, outdoor dancefloors and on homey game show broadcasts and the only reason any serious musician ever would get involved in this business is that there are supposedly a lot of money in it. And the second-hand stores in Sweden are absolutely brimming with old vinyls featuring covers that grin at you in the bins:

That guy is (or at least was, I think he's been given the boot lately) one representative for that party in one of the provinces of Sweden and made a name for himself in a renowned interview where he openly (and slow-wittedly) stated that the immigration was destroying old swedish traditions such as christmas eve. That particular record was obviously his interpretation of various songs, including "Imagine". Yes, a nazi skinhead covering Lennon, you heard it!
