Yep, agreed. When I saw this trade I was shocked and called Boston fucking retarded for doing this. They lose one of the best defensive centers in the league. Perkins isn't a stat guy, but he's a beast down low and gave Boston the opportunity to play with a big lineup. KG and Perk in the post were the best defensive combination of big men in the league. He was a fan favorite and did everything he was asked, I was shocked they got rid of him.

The more I looked at the trade, the more in made sense to me... well, the more i see why they did it i guess. Perkins is coming off a major injury. He's gonna be a free agent and apparently the money he wanted isnt anywhere near what Boston could afford or was willing to pay. So he was likely to walk in a few months and instead of getting nothing in return, at least Boston was able to manage to get a solid young player in Green. Boston is an old team and eventually in a few years it's gonna be Rondo-Green-Big baby as the core. They also got the Clippers 2012 first round pick but its top-10 protected which means they don't receive the draft pick if it's a top 10 pick. They have been the best team in basketball without Perkins and have beat the elite teams without him as well. So I'll back off saying they are retarded but this definitely hurts their championship chances for this season. Lakers now have a huge advantage inside. What I really don't understand is Boston trading Erden and Harangody to the Cavs for a 2nd round pick. Erden was giving them solid minutes off the bench and they just got rid of Perkins. So this makes zero sense to me, who are they gonna get in the 2nd round better than Erden and harangody? They gave away two young big men for nothing.

Thunder were the ultimate winners these past few days. Not only did the Jazz and Nuggets fall from the West contenders, but they improved sooo much with Perkins. They have the cap room to sign him too and probably will IMO. Now they have a guy who can play tough defense and rebound against teams like the Lakers. Ibaka can play power forward, which is where he should be. He won't be undersized anymore and can really use his athleticism. I love this move for OKC. They are gonna be contenders for a long time.

Other trade thoughts:

Deron Williams goes to the Nets. Good move for Utah. He was gonna walk after next season and the Jazz saw what happened to the nuggets this year with Carmello trade rumors taking over the team all season. They weren't gonna keep him and weren't gonna be a championship team anyways, so they flipped him to the Nets for two good, young players and some draft picks. Great move in my opinion. For the Nets, it's super risky. They gave up a lot of potential and if they can't sell Deron on moving to Brooklyn and he doesnt sign long-term, then they are in huge trouble. But I like that the Nets are finally making big time moves and trying to be relevant again.

Carmello goes to the Knicks. I like it for both teams. The Nuggets obviously weren't gonna sign Melo and really didn't seem to have much leverage, but they got A LOT in return. I don't know the contracts of everyone they got or if they plan to keep Felton and Lawson (I assume not) but I rally like Gallinari's game. 7 footer who is young, great from long range, and has an under rated game going to the rim. Draws fouls and is good from the line. Nuggets have a ton of free agents coming up, it will be interesting to see what they do but they got some young talent in this deal and now JR Smith can really shine. He is a great offensive player and will thrive now that Melo isn't taking half the possessions. For the Knicks... Yes, they gave up a lot but they are getting a top 10 player. Aside from just the stats he brings, it will definitely help lure another star player to New York if the new CBA allows for it. I am saying right now that CP3 is going to New York. Knicks will eventually be a force but it'll take a few years. Bulls, Heat, or Celtics will get matched with them in the 1st round of the playoffs though, so that #1 seed is important in my opinion, and I think the Heat are gonna get it. Bulls get the 2, celtics get the 3.
