90's underground i think of digable planets and a lot of jazz oriented stuff, as well as the beginnings of EL-P and rhymesayer guys.
What about gangster rap, that was a huge part of the 90's? OF to me, sound like a modern day extension of that sound; gritty beats and aggressive lyrics. I also don't think that OF can be compared to Gucci Man or Wacka. I hear no similarities other than a few small things with production.
