Well it might have different on your side of the pond. In the 4 years between Warning and American Idiot they were pretty much forgotten about by the mainstream here, they were seen as has-beens. Even the American Idiot single didn't make too much of an impact on the radio, it wasn't until Boulevard of Broken Dreams was released when sh!t went skyward and suddenly you could'nt escape them. That's what I was referring to.
