imo Western society is ruled by fatcats, idiots and hedonists and the rules in place are for fat cats, idiots and hedonists.
The real people who actually help Humanity are generally the ones who do what you said - take the clothes on their back and blaze a trail. Sometimes metaphorically. Change is vilified, progress is hated. That is the definition of O great Society. At least in today's World imo. Defintly in the past - Einstein, Newton, Darwin - were those people appreciated in their time? Nope. Are they even appreciated now? Not really. Their ideas are used as ammo for moot agendas.
