Nu-Metal as a "genre" has a way worse rep than it deserves. A lot of the stuff was innovative and honestly with better songwriters instead of it being such an "angry" genre,your looking at some of the more innovative music to come out.Sure its a lot of genre bending and no solos and its catchy...but some "Nu-Metal" bands that are classified as such were quite good.

I think 40 Below Summer was one of the more original sounding metal bands in the past decade. I think that Flaw got lumped in that discussion and Chris Volz has an amazing voice. Korn really were a breath of fresh air in the 90's and Helmet is a very interesting band and is often coined with the title of the first nu metal band.
