I have another friend and she always tries her best to have everyone like her and keep a positive attitude about everything and be perky/happy all the time and she puts on this front even when she's hurting on the inside just so that people can like her.
It's a bit pathetic imo but that's just who she is and I'm still friends with her regardless of her personality.

I would much rather a small circle of friends that knew me well and knew what I was about than a huge circle of friends that I would have to pretend that I liked.
It is only when you reach rock bottom or show your true self to the world that you find out who is really there for you.
It is quite the cathartic experience.
It doesn't help that I am a morose character though.
