It's no secret that I've been one of Little Brother's loudest proponents here on mb, so it only makes sense that I'd start a thread about Phonte's side-project
The Foreign Exchange. Phonte and Nicolay, a Dutch producer with a penchant for ethereal beats, contacted each other through various means (i.e. phone, internet, mail) in order to collaborate on a few tracks that would eventually become the basis for FE's debut;
Connected. Ironically, these two didn't meet in person until they went on their first tour to promote the album.
Featuring a slew of fellow Justus Leaguers,
Connected boasts other-worldy production, classic rhymes, and a few hip hop classics. The album would also go on to garner critical acclaim, often being cited as one of alternative hip hop's best efforts.
