Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
Yep I finally got it. Is it as good as I thought it would be? It most certainly is. This album was certainly worth the wait and from first impressions the band have certainly grown as songwriters and musicians. It might be too early to judge yet but this could possibly be better than their debut. Fantastic album.
The Antlers - Burst Apart
Yet another one that I have been (im)patiently waiting for. The band have taken a different direction from
Hospice but pull it off with confidence and elegance. It's certainly a more upbeat-sounding album than
Hospice, even though it still does sound downbeat, but the most noticeable element is Peter Silberman's vocals which have seemed to have grown in strength, sometimes sounding like Jeff Buckley or Hayden Thorpe when hitting the high notes. Overall this is a very solid and beautiful album and yet another brilliant release in 2011.
