Strange Strings
1967

Tracks

1. Worlds Aproaching
2. Strange Strings
3. Strange Strings

The fourth in line of complete Ra masterpieces, and definitely not the last. Strange Strings is something of myth. Since, it's created from a band with no string players, entirely of string instruments. But through Sun Ra's discipline, and the technical genius of his Arkestra comes a complex, beautiful amazing arrangement. This album is truly a peak for Avant-Garde, and albeit lacks the sheer gorgeousness of the somewhat structurally similar 'Magic City' it's still an abstract work of genius. As expected, not quite as tight, but that's to it's advantage, as it gives a spacey disorienting feel. One of which makes 20 minute stretches seem like they're way too short. Hypnotic album, and a true work of art. Highly recommended.

10/10

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God
