i would not have "don't try writing" as a poll answer, although the lyrics lack any real depth i would not ever tell you to not write i mean the fact that you wrote a song in itself can be considered impressive on some level all you need to do is hone your skill.
if you want to learn more about writing more in depth lyrics try looking up Iron & Wine, Bright Eyes, Bon Iver, Etc... (also i know other people may think these suggestions aren't great but they will get the job done)
and don't just listen to the music read the lyrics.
also don't be afraid to make the songs personal and what i mean is make the song yours make it so even if someone you know stole the song your friends would still be able to tell you wrote it.
