does not make you a metal band!!!! No matter what sub name you give it!!! There is far more to being a metal band than sound, it is something you love, and flows in your veins!!! Not lets do this be on Mtv, and get rich quick. It's why people still pack it in to see a Iron Maiden show, and you bums are the has beens playing some state fair!!!

People like you are why metal isn't more popular. "Fans" like you are associated with metal, which is unfortunate, because it puts a bad light on the entire genre. Basically you have no proof of anything you say. Iron Maiden is an exception, like the other immensely popular acts of their day. What about all the other "true" bands that came out around the time of Iron Maiden? An extremely small minority of them can still play a show, let alone a sold out one. Using Iron Maiden as an example proves nothing. For every Iron Maiden there is one hundred unpopular "true" metal bands that no one wants to see anymore except their respective fan base. Of course there will be bands that have short-lived popularity in nu metal, but then again EVERY genre of music has that. The few standouts continue to grow and evolve and age, all while still remaining popular (Ex: Slipknot). In fact Slipknot headlined Download Festival in 2009, which is ten years after the release of their first album. Nu metal can't be based off of bands like Taproot and Limp Bizkit. As for the cheesy and pretentious "metal flowing through your veins" thing you mentioned, I guess you could give some bands a blood test or something. Apparently there is an obvious sign that proves bands enjoy what they are doing for a living that I don't know about. I guess since I don't like country music it means they are sell-outs that don't love what they do.
My lord, why even post on this thread?
I usually try not to respond to internet trolls, but I couldn't let this one go
