Sure his lyrics/lines aren't always on point but what he does it's similar to throwing many darts at a dartboard. This has always been my problem with his praise.

People equate the amount of ****ty guest appearances he does and rapping without writing down his lyrics as "putting in work."

Lil Wayne benefits from having a young audience that doesn't want to listen to any subject matter, they just want to be spoon fed puns and egotistical punchlines.

He is a really good rap "rockstar", but he would have to have made more original, more influential music to be worthy of the hype he gets. Not just coining the term "bling bling"
