It'd be nice to just plug away at something for a few years and come out with enough money to go to college and maybe be able do some stuff with art or join a band for a while but the military may not be for me. Also, I feel as though I need to be constantly stimulated. I hate the feeling of not accomplishing anything for long periods of time. I do need to fight my instincts if I'm about to commit to something that I can't handle though.

Exactly, that's how I am. I went into the military, just to experience something different but keep myself busy. Most people say they joined for college money or to travel but I would always say that I joined for the experience and to see if it was something that I could tackle.
Just do the research, take the ASVAB and see if you like it. Boot Camp will be your final check point to see if you'd be able to fit in.
