Even moreso when you consider that the PS3 and Xbox 360 are not equals in terms of what they can do, are Nintendo saying the Wii U is equal to the PS3? Is it equal to the 360? Or are they just saying they have made a Wii HD and changed the control system to be more DS-like than Wii like.

i woudn't stress this part. All those games were built with the xbox 360 and ps3 dev kits, they're not going to build a new engine for the wiiu.
I'm going to guess it's
slightly more powerful then the 360 or ps3, just so they can advertise it as so. That being said i still think sony's "cell" processor has room to grow, and i believe neither company is planning on releasing a new console anytime soon.
