Christian music hasn't been good since the 1700s. Albeit, being a staunch atheist I do have a soft spot for the hymnal, and choral music:

However... I don't think Rock or Metal was made well for 'spreading the word'. That's what I hate about all Christian Rock(which is terrible). The thing is, melodies are part of the 'message' of a song. You can't just slap 'praise the lord' onto Thrash guitar riffs, and expect it to come off as Christian music, or anything but unnecessarily hokey.
Good rock, and metal are far to abrasive for that kind of thing.
