I disagree with this statement, I haven't come in contact with many vegans which they don't eat those two but the vegetarians that I have come across are all about the fish and seafood isn't off limits but they don't care about the whole "animal" factor.
I know Vegans don't eat fish and shrimp though but pesca whatevers do and it's fine in their opinion they are still consider vegetarian.
