300 looks awful on Blu Ray. The film was shot on digital but even at 2006 standards the technology wasn't as good as it could be and as most of the film was shot in front of green screen the colours were added later so the blacks are really exposed in the blu ray format and look grainy as hell.

One of the best looking Blu Ray conversions I have seen so far is Close Encounters surprisingly. I am not a big fan of the film but it looks amazing on Blu Ray.

I won't get into a debate about Speed Racer as you know my feelings about the film but Avatar and obviously most pixar films look superb on the format.

Danny Boyles 'Sunshine' looks superb and it helps that it is a great film to boot.

Blue Planet is a great choice for a documentary.
