I've worked at a gas station in the past as well. I had this old man come in every evening (I think he was slighlty senile) he used buy a packet of butter a small carton of milk, brown bread and bacon, it was always the same price dont think it ever changed in my time there and every night he would get quite agitated as it was always 20 cents dearer in his opinion than the night before.
