Not familiar with Kate Bush, but I agree with you concerning Annie Lennox hammer. Eurythmics are a British pop rock band, but you know how threads seem to stray from the original subject sometimes. Lennox is actually labled in the pop, rock, blue-eyed soul, & R&B genres, but I agree her music contains much more than a basic rock influence/sound. Her style & sound is quite unique musically. I would consider her music to be more contemporary & alternative, than labeled in the basic rock genre. I might mention that she is one of my favorite Scottish artist along with the Average White Band.

I would consider Patty Smyth of (Scandal), or Janis Joplin to be a more rock genre specific.
