It is a big **** up as regards internet browsing capabilities on the iPhone as a huge part of the internet is made up of Flash. But because Adobe Flash can be used as a development platform there is the danger of Apple losing complete control of their software if they were to allow Flash capabilities on iPhones. People will develop apps in Flash instead and this will seriously threaten Apple's app store and they will lose business as a result. They also don't support Java for the exact same reason.
The reason why I love Android is because they support Java and Flash and are far more open with app development, and that is a big win on their part.
