A valiant attempt at filming a virtually unfilmable novel.

i remember when this was released in theaters....i think i was 14 or 15 and i saw an add on tv which was simply Burroughs talking about how he never thought anybody would be willing to ruin their film making career by turning Naked Lunch into a film
it was released where i live on my birthday.....and my mom said to me "i'll pay for you to go see this movie if you read the book first".....i'll never forget sitting there reading the book and my mom (who had never read or even heard of Naked Lunch) coming up to me and asking me what was happening in the book!....i did not have the heart to tell what i was reading and what it was doing to my young brain......i think i just said...."i have no idea" which was true
