Honestly, I'd just buy a saxaphone. Since, part of the instrument involves the various of air pressures, which transition notes to note. I'm sure you could find a synth that sounds like a sax but when you play it, it'll sound like nothing more than a sound fonted midi, even if the recorded sample is good.
I would, however, look into midi controllers, and laptops if you want things that sound like things. With a good sampler VST, and VSTs of the direct variety, you'd be surprised what you can get.
