Ya i guess youre right about clapton, but he can still shred those blues scales. Even SRV uses the same blues scale lick in many songs. I'm not obsessed with big names. Hubert Sumlin is great, I would consider him a pretty big name. Gotta love that riff in the song smokestack lightning. If youre talking about Hubert Sumlin, then you have to mention Willie Johnson, Howlin Wolfs other guitarist; He was great. Howlin Wolf himself was a good slide guitar player, he doesnt get enough credit as a guitarist. A great bluesy/jazzy guitarist is T-Bone walker. He is the father of the electric blues, he doesnt get near enough credit. My favorite young guitar player would have to be Derek Trucks.
