I always just tried to appear grounded but confident. Not cocky or arrogant. If you come across as over-meeting (if thats a real word) the criteria they are looking for, or that the job is beneath you, then chances are you arent gonna get it. Some employers like arrogance and ego's, but there are so many people out of work that most of us have to take whatever comes along. That means if they think you would quit at the very first opportunity when something else comes along, they aren't gonna hire you over someone who looks like they may potentially stay there for a long time.
Loads of people are getting shunned because they are "over-qualified." Truly bizarre.
