It's a brilliant album. I quite like
Melt by them too, but
Hail is indeed their best and one of the best things to come out on Flying Nun (that I know of, anyway... there's still a lot on the label I'd like to check out).
I'm currently getting that Thin White Rope album mentioned in the original post - had never heard of this band before, but I'm hoping it's on par with Opal and The Dream Syndicate.
