I've been checking out some third stream stuff lately and that lead me to Loussier. The one other album of his that I downloaded didn't really do it for me but I dig this one quite a bit. It's just drums and piano, both played in a very minimalistic yet groovy way, and though I think some of the songs might have benefitted from some bass, it's still a terrific album.
Loussier did an album of jazz interpretations of Chopin's Nocturns that's pretty interesting. The interpretative liberties that he takes with Chopin's pieces are conservative at best and usually amounts to flatting the fifth of the scale or loosening up a run here and there, but it's still quality.
