To each is own. He's doing what he wants with it. I agree with the sentiment about people missing the message/purpose but in general
I (IMHO) think it's cool. I'm probably not the best example of a person to be advocating for him since I'm an audiophile, and cycle through most genres of music on a daily if not weekly basis in addition to fun acts like Lil B and OFWG. I'm sure there's a lot of people who just listen to Lil B, Odd Future, Waka Flocka, Wiz, Kanye, etc. (whatever is popular I suppose) and that composes their daily intake for audio stimulation, which is kind of strange to think about. However, I can only see it from my perspective. I dig his act and like his positive messages. I wouldn't say he's a genius but he's pretty smart and definitely ambitious.
