Honestly, pop culture references are fine. If they brought it back as a web series that just did music videos, then I'd be ok with it.
The problem is the fact that the characters are fairly specific stereotypes of 90s alterna-grunge-metal potheads. The youth of today are stupid, yes, but stupid in a very different way which makes Beavis and Butthead irrelevant.
