uh, i wouldn't want to be in a peaceful quasi-ecstatic mood all the time when I listen to music - i sometimes want to be angry so's I can hear angry music, depressed for sad bastard music and alert when i'm trying catch all the notes in jazz
the other things you've mentioned are basically "escapes" - you have to face it sober sooner or later
