::sigh:: Norah Jones. You know they called her Jazz because for the majority she is, but I think anything that was jazzy with mass appeal was sort of a chance to get people to be able to say they liked Jazz.

I don't think she classified herself as jazz necciserily but she has that flavoring. She constantly mentions Willie Nelson as a huge influcence (and plays in a cover band Little Willies) but has never (in my readings) has classified herself.

The we had the people who wanted to change her, either because they were jazz purists and into their sobbery, or because they didn't want to be caught dead liking something as stuffy as Jazz.

When you say she's more Jazz oriented, to me that solidifies my opinion that she is just drafting off the greats. I don't think she's very original.

I know this will get me shot and burned, but old Jazz lyrics have to be the most abstract and general of any genre. I don't know, I don't dislike her, but I think Jones is a much better singer/songwriter.
