Alan Lomax

January 31, 1915 – July 19, 2002

The legendary folklorist Alan Lomax had a car outfitted with field recording equipment. He drove across the country, making thousands of these "field recordings", including some by a then unknown Muddy Waters, Leadbelly and many more. These recordings are preserved at the Library of Congress.
