"The Fountain of Lamneth" is easily the most unique long-format song in Rush's catalog, and I rank it very highly as well. Compared to “2112” and “Hemispheres” (Rush’s other side long epics), "Lamneth" is a lot different. Those two share the same structure and are much more aggressive than “Lamneth,” which is much more lethargic and almost dreamy in nature. It sounds very Rush, but at the same time, it sounds like nothing else they created before or after. It is also much closer to the sound of the original 1st wave of progressive rock, which Rush was not officially a part of since they didn't arrive on the scene until 1974, and the 1st wave of progressive rock peaked in 1972- 1973.
