If you have a beef with Watchmen's casting because you didn't like how they interpreted the parts, that's fine, but then it's their acting you have a problem with, not how well known they are.

But these types of films are always so much better when they have distinguished actors playing key or supporting roles, they add credibility for lack of a better word to the whole thing. By doing this, LOTR could easily get away with having laregly unknown actors playing the leading roles, or in the case of Viggo Mortenson an actor that had just never struck it big before these films.
