I know a few dudes i know will go online and try to find a really underground or obscure band, that are barely even known, and will buy their shirts and wear them in an attempt to look like they are really into the underground and "Oh look at me, im wearing THIS bands shirt, i know my music, etc etc" and will wear them to shows.
Pretty sad that you have to go to that level though.
as for wearing band shirts, yeah i wear my pantera shirts a lot. I was at a servo one day and this big dude comes at and yells at my face "PAN-FUKCING-TERAAAAAA" pretty fun experience
