The Expendables
Man, what a weird masochistic fantasy trip this was. It seems like the actors were cast for their advertising rights more then their actual likeness in the film. All of the actors, excluding stallone and statham, only make brief appearances. When the other actors do have screen time it's usually buddying up with stallone, which produces some god awful chemistry. The films attempts at comic relief are shockingly poor. That being said the action is very satisfying and graphic, I was a big fan of Rambo 4 and this is very much in the same vein. Plus seeing stone cold steve austin fighting stallone was a real treat, and probably a wet dream to wwe fans residing in their mothers basement everywhere.
Don't go into the film expecting any form of cohesive narrative, because it is very absent, to the point you wonder if they hired any actual screenwriters. Part of me believes Stallone came up with the story to this film by playing with action figures.
