Now, excellent emo bands that are sort of recently defunct include; Saetia, Reversal Of Man, ORCHID, Spirit Of Versailles, Usurp Synapse, JEROMES DREAM, Anasarca (not the death metal band), Neil Perry, I Hate Myself, Swing Kids, Antioch Arrow, Angel Hair, Mohinder, Clikitat Ikatowi, etc. Bands that are stil ltogether and playing emo are; Off Minor, Welcome THe Plague Year, Kaospilot, Hot Cross, Van Johnson, Panthers, Yaphet Kotto, Kodan Armada, etc. So listen to those bands, they are emo. Keep in mind screamo, emocore, emo, screamy hardcore, etc. are all emo really. Those bands are emo, listen, read, fall in love.

...A friend of David?

First off...'emo is a term DERIVED from emotional hardcore' this statement gives no basic knowledge of what emo is today. The entire arguement of 'what is emo and what is not' is a present conflict, not bands from 20 years ago. When speaking in terms of labels...I agree those bands would be considered 'emo' during their time, but people these days have an entire different outlook on emo. Todays 'emo' was derived from that of the latter years with bands like Rites of Spring, but they derived into something cmopletely different. They share the same base and roots, but branched into completely different things. People today are overly involved in labeling bands. There are too many labels for similar music. Just as long as we all agree that its all good music, and get passed what it is called we will be fine, but everyone is too tied up in the overcoat of emo, not the music, but the name and appearance.

Second...How do you know that those bands are emo? Where is the correct definition of 'emo'? I'm not by any means atacking you or attemting to offend you. Just wondering where you get that information. Thank you. Sorry if I got a little off track.
