There's a reason I don't think anyone ever heard Hendrix refer to 'his' chord as a 'dominant seventh sharp ninth'. Pretty sure he just referred to it as the funky one that sounded cool. And ultimately, sounding cool is the ONLY thing that really matters.

Everything Jimi did was cool though. Had he talked about music in the form of technical terms...that would have been cool. He was just..THAT cool.
