Maybe my favourite band of all time.
I’ve tried other post-punk or bands that had post-punk elements, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Christian Death, Wire, Bauhaus, The Cure etc. and while many artists are enjoyable in the end (e.g Killing Joke) they can’t touch what Joy Division did. “Closer” in particular is the most melancholic sounding album I’ve ever heard while tracks such as “Means To An End” and “Decades” are definitely some of the most emotion drenched..
(“New Dawn Fades” is pretty damn desperate as well).
I also think “Love Will Tear Us Apart’s” a good track but agree that it’s quite overrated as far as JD go.
What do people think of their more punk rockish “An Ideal For Living’ EP ??
