in some, if not most, ways, this one is actually in all respects a better album than their debut
the songs are more realised, they have already concretised their own unique sound, unlike the debut, which sounds like hodgepodge of CSN, Steeleye Span and the Fairport Convention
it's a shame that the hype machine has died (the debut was one of the few albums that received massive hyperbole) and Helplessness Blues really deserves a much bigger audience than what I think it's getting, as compared to the debut
