Ooooohh I love Minutemen. The movie about them -We Jam Econo- is worth re-mentioning.
I'm seeing Firehose with Tera Melos and some other band in April... I am beyond stocked. Super-stocked. Uber-stocked. Something to that extent.
Mike Watt always came across as a really cool dude and I'm hoping I'll get to meet him. As for the argument about Watt being less of a bassist after Minutemen: There was a chemistry between all the members of the band that they've all acknowledged and when D. Boon died it crushed Watt. The two were friggin bro's. He wanted to quit playing music after that so my guess is he's just never felt the same inspiration. IMO, a lot of his post-minutmen stuff never came on par but is still worthy of praise.
